Perak to adhere to fatwa banning 'Poco-Poco' dance

IPOH: The Perak government will adhere to the ruling made by the Perak Fatwa Committee banning the poco-poco dance, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said Wednesday.

He said after the fatwa (edict) was issued, all quarters should respect it and not create any dispute on the matter.

The mentri besar was commenting on the report published by a local daily on Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria's statement that the committee had ruled that the dance is haram for Muslims.

Harussani was also reported as saying that the dance was haram because it had elements of Christianity and soul worshipping, and that the edict would be gazetted soon.

I dont mind la if you want to ban(mengharamkan) ppl from menari poco2. BUT jgn la guna alasan yang bodoh2 pula.. Im a Christian and im pretty sure that we never dance POCO2 in church (FUNNY). And can anyone tell me which part of POCO2 is an element of Christianity? Main cakap ja.. Padahal, tdk tau pa2 pun pasal Christianity. Its a good thing Christianity teach us to love our neighbour regardless of what. To Perak Fatwa, cari la alasan yang lebih logik and munasabah. Don’t make yourself look stupid.

I wonder how much time and energy Perak fatwa committee spend just to do research on Poco2 dance and to actually mengharamkan the dance.
